The devastating earthquake that occurred in Haiti has caused an immeasurable amount of tragedy and destruction. People all over the world are left feeling useless and shocked from the news and this is certainly the feeling that many Hounslow citizens are feeling, trying to do the most they can.

The 10th annual UK Holocaust Memorial Day and 65th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, were marked by an array events across the UK last week - one of the main events held was the Greater London Authority's observance held at London's City Hall.
Nearly 13 million people live in poverty in the UK, which makes up 1 in 5 of the population, showing just how widespread poverty has become.

New year, more snow and more time off school!

It’s been a busy start to the year this month, with teenagers all across Hounslow starting to go back to school, battling the cold weather and many, starting their exams. However, nothing has stopped them from planning ahead, thinking about their weekends and free-time. This month, thousands of bids have been pouring in by the dozen, with teenagers requesting a grant to fund activities in their local area. From trips to the theatre to games consoles at their local youth club- the PEEP’s panel do their best to save teenagers, one bid at a time!

Last year new A Level syllabuses were introduced. They have been said to be tougher and more challenging and the students across the borough have to agree.During the second week of January 2010 the current year 12 got their first taste of A-Levels as many sat their first real exams.

Keeping your brain hydrated is vitally important to get through the day, for people of all ages. At the weekend teenagers often dehydrate their bodies to dangerous levels by drinking excess amounts of alcohol. This has got to stop if these teenagers are hoping to be able to concentrate for the duration of their AS and A2 Level examinations. This is because becoming dehydrated on a regular basis makes it more difficult for the brain to function, resulting in low concentration levels and headaches.

Seven months ago, a group of environmental activists set up the Eco Village with just a few small tents and no facilities. Now, its community is blossoming, everyone is happy and they live together in peace. Their camp facilities have improved as they have taught themselves how to make small houses out of wood and have even created a compost toilet! Their ethos is "be the change you wish to see" and they have definitely done themselves proud.
